It's My Birthday

by Sabrina
(Memphis, TN)

I came up with this pastor appreciation idea a couple years ago. Our pastor doesn't get paid for the hard work he does and the time he contributes to the house of God. So throughout the year each member of the congregation gives pastor a gift on their own birthday. That way everyone gets involved and pastor receives gifts all through the year. It is usually a monetary gift but whatever the Spirit puts on each person’s heart. This way all year long he receives gifts of appreciation not just on a special day. We call it, PASS THE GIFT, meaning if it's your birthday on that day you present him with your gift. I hope this works for you as it has for us.

Pastors are so under appreciated and sometimes we look at only what they can do for us. I think this takes so much focus off of what we are expecting to get on our birthdays and gives us a chance to get excited about doing for someone else and on OUR birthday of all days! Love it!

Mother
by: Karen Miller

My mother was a pastor for 34 years. This would have been a wonderful idea to help boost her during the year. Pastor's are, after all, just servants with a heavy load, us. God bless.
