Pastor Edward B. Johnson

Pastor Edward B. Johnson

We your church family and friends deeply appreciate the special things you do during the year – from visiting hospitals and nursing homes, and conducting weddings and funerals, to preparing and preaching messages, and presiding at board and committee meetings. And, of course, we remain greatly affected by the little things you do – like bending down to eye level to make time for our children, and the prayers you breathe to Heaven when no one else is around.

We are thankful for the messages that are brought to us as the Lord speaks through you. We love that you are humble, yet Firm, and uncompromising to the word of the Lord. We hope that our prayers and participation, will help you continue on your course of good works.

You are a blessing, and may God continue to richly bless you.

Ephesians 4:11-12

It was he who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, to prepare God's pe ople for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up.

You Are A Blessing
by: Judy & Bob Stewart

Pastor Ed you are truly a blessing to both of us and to the congregation of Holmesburg Baptist. Your love and goodness and deep concern for each of us touches our hearts. We are so thankful for all you do. You bring God's message to us in very understandable sermons which on many occasions are just what we need to hear. Thank you for your leadership and guidance and prayer in our difficult times. LeBerta, we treasure your love and friendship too. We love you both and pray that the Lord will allow us many more years with you in sharing the Word in our community. Love you both!

Others First
by: Peter D. Messina

I am very proud of the life Rev. Johnson has made for himself. I have personally known Rev. Johnson for over 35 years and during that time, he has never stopped doing for others.

He always puts himself last in favor of giving comfort to others. If I did not live in Pittsburgh, I would be a member of his church.

Rev. Johnson has always had the charisma to make people feel good about themselves. He can make you forget your problems as he talks to you, without effort. He is a natural born man of God.

God Bless you Rev. Johnson, Marilyn and I along with my entire family on both sides are proud of you and pray that your success as a Minister will continue for a very long time.

Thank You!!!!

Heavenly Father, we thank you today for your work in creation and the abundant blessings that we have as Your children.

We thank you for the glorious gospel; the gift of your Son Jesus Christ as the one mediator between God and man.

Thank you for the church, the company of the redeemed, and for the local church where believers gather to express their faith and obedience such as we do here at Holmesburg Baptist Church.

Thank you for the gift of pastor, which your Word says you gave to your church "to prepare God's people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ" (Ephesians 4:12, 13).

Thank you for Pastor Ed Johnson and his faithfulness to your cause, for the Bible says, "it is required that those who have been given a trust must prove faithful" (1 Corinthians 4:2).

Thank you for his personal commitment to Jesus Christ as his Lord and Saviour and to the Word of God.

Thank you for the love he has for his wife and family demonstrating a stable and healthy family. For the Scripture says of church leadership, "he must manage his own family well and see that his children obey him with proper respect" (1 Timothy 3:4).

Thank you for his thoughtful exposition of your Word, as he heeds your call to "Preach the Word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage--with great patience and careful instruction" (2 Timothy 4:2).

Thank you for his leadership in our church services and the orderly manner in which he leads us, seeking to fulfill the Biblical call that "all things be done decently and in order" (1 Corinthians 14:40).

Thank you for his interest in the flock under his care and the burden that he carries for your people.

Thank you for LeBerta and her compliment to his leadership and her service and thoughtfulness as well.

May you continue to confer your richest blessing upon this ministry couple as they seek to fulfill their call amongst us and thus bring You glory.

In the powerful name of Jesus Christ we pray, AMEN.

God's Man for the Hour
by: Tom and Anna Branch

Dear Pastor Ed,
Anna and I want to thank you for your faithfulness and devotion.
When our church needed a pastor, we prayed for one that would faithfully preach, teach, and live the Word of God. As a member of that pastoral search committee I can attest that surprisingly it was not an easy task finding someone who fit that bill. Anna and I are not alone in feeling that in you, God has heard and answered that prayer. God has given HBC a very long and rich spiritual heritage. In today's trying and changing times we feel that you are truly God's man for the Hour at Holmesburg Baptist.

Thanks!

Hey Pastor Ed,

We miss not seeing you weekly but wanted to personally "thank you" for all you have done for us, over the years. Not only for us but for our children, who love you!! What a great example you have been to us, over the years you have Pastored at HBC. It was your love we noticed 1st about you. You and Bert have been a great testimony to us, living out your Faith. Every Sunday morning you would teach us from God's word and we have never forgotten these lessons. Please continue to do, what you do, at HBC. God is using you in a mighty way!!
Love,
Eric & Shirley
