I just don't get it

I was about 5 and was sitting with my best friend Hannah. My mom and dad were up in the choir when i leaned over and told my friend's dad. Hey Jim my dad always tells this joke ... if there is a man in the woods and he yells and there is no woman to hear him, is he still wrong,"I said. Then i leaned back again and said," but i just don't get it. It took my friend's dad a minute to get it then he just started laughing out loud.

My mom and dad looked over and saw him laughing and got this puzzled look on their faces. They didn't find out why he was laughing until after church then they just smiled and looked at me.
