Pastor Appreciation Idea: Dinner Is Served

This friday night the Jr. High/Middle School Sunday School Class at our church is hosting our pastor and his family for dinner. Here's how it can work for you.

  • Arrange an evening that works for your pastor's family, you, and the kids in your class.
  • Send out an official invitation to your pastor and his entire family.
  • Select a menu and gather/purchase the necessary ingredients.
  • Have your class kids "dress up" (no blue jeans) for the dinner.
  • Decorate a room at your church with candles, cover the tables with linen table clothes, and play some nice background music.
  • Arrive early to prepare the meal.
  • Make sure each person in your class has an assigned task so that everyone gets involved.
  • Serve each meal course separately, allowing your guests time to enjoy the meal.
  • You might want to inlude a short presentation, skit, poetry reading, or word of appreciation just before dessert is served.
  • Thank your guests for coming and clean up.

This is a fairly simple way to show your pastor appreciation - and to help young people learn to show their appreciation as well.

A New Pastor Gift Idea: I'd Like to Repeat...

This is not a "new" pastor gift idea - I've recommended it before. But I'd like to repeat myself because I truly believe that this is one of the most practical and appreciated gifts a pastor can receive.

If you are looking for a gift for your pastor, please consider a gift certificate to a bookstore.

May I recommend: ChristianBook Gift Certificates
