Pastor Appreciation Idea: Christmas for Pastor's Kids

Pastors don't go into ministry for the money. Being a pastor is rewarding - just not financially rewarding!

One of the places this shows up is under the Christmas tree. While many kids will unwrap an XBox and a cell phone, pastor's kids

will get a sweater and some socks.

But you can make a difference this year in one of two ways.

1) Before Christmas, give your pastor a Wal-Mart Appreciation Gift Card. Include a note that suggests he use it for gifts for the kids.

2) Before Christmas, purchase presents for each of your pastor's kids. Deliver them to their home so that they can be under

the tree on Christmas morning.

Christmas isn't about presents. But your pastor's family will feel very appreciated when you show your love in this practical way.

A New Pastor Gift Idea: Put Some Meat in the Freezer

My first pastorate was in a rural farming community. One of the benefits of pastoring in an agricultural town is the fresh fruit, vegatables, and meat that find their way into your refridgerator and freezer. We would often find a bushel of sweet corn, buckets of freshly picked strawberries, or a bag of mellons on our porch. And at Christmas two farmers took turns giving from their herds. One year it was a pig. The next year it was a half a cow. We ate like kings!

However, you don't have to live on a farm to help fill your pastor's freezer - all you need is a computer. Give your pastor a Omaha Steaks Gift Card so he can choose his favorite cuts of meat.

Hmmm... steak and fresh sweet corn... why did we ever leave that church?
