"A Night in The Islands"

by Rosa Morrison Lowe
(Palm Beach Gardens, Florida)

For our Pastor Appreciation Idea.... We transform our Church Royalty room into a night of Island fun. Our congregation is made up of Bahamian, Jamaician, Haitii and the Virgin Islands, and we add Hawaii. We decorate with bamboo branches, and all of the tables are decorated Island style. When the guest arrived we would have our young people stand at the entrance door and put Hawaiian Leis around their necks and offer them a small glass of punch (pina Colada etc.) as they invite them in. We would have a small band playing Island music. For entertainment we would have "Limbo"
and watch the Pastor go as low as he can go! (This really gets hilarious watching the whole family participate). We try to have all of the Pastor's favorite foods with an Island touch. The guests dress casual with colorful attire and fun is had by all!

We did this and added the fake credit card you get in junk mail. Our Pastor and 1st lady shopped at each port with monopoly money and credit cards. They shopped for comfortable clothing items and jewelry and other things they liked and when they stopped in Hawaii, they sat in great royalty chairs and a tribe of people from each port blessed them with gifts and money and a trip to San Diego.
