Pastor Appreciation Idea: Creative Ways to Pay Your Pastor More

One of the most practical and helpful ways to show pastor appreciation is to raise your pastor's salary... to pay him more money!

Unfortunately, most churches already pay their pastors all they can. So what can we do? Should we just shrug our shoulders and sigh, "We just can't do any more."

I can think of at least four ways to raise your pastor's income without paying him any more than you already are. That's right - put more money into your pastor's pocket without taking more out of your church budget.

***Note: This is a summary of an article I wrote for the web site, Free Church Accounting. You can read the entire article at http://www.freechurchaccounting.com/pastor-appreciation.html

Be sure to take full advantage of housing allowance and professional expense tax provisions. Pastors in the USA are offered valuable tax breaks. Make sure you are helping your pastor utilize them effectively.

Look into high deductible health plans that utilize health savings accounts. There are some new ways to configure health insurance plans to maximize coverage and minimize expenses. Talk to a health insurance professional to get more information.

Find or negotiate discounts from local businesses.

Share the fruit of your labor. What do you do enjoy doing? What skills do you have? Anything you have and do can be turned into a way to bless your pastor. Be creative, work together with others, and use your skills and talents to raise your pastor's income.
