My-Pastor Minute, Issue #021 - The 2011 Pastor Appreciation Workbook
January 04, 2011

1,500 pastors leave their churches every month in the United States because of conflict, burnout, or moral failure. Help keep your pastor from becoming part of that statistic. Use every available resource to encourage, support, and partner with your pastor. This ezine and www.My-Pastor.com give you a good start toward effectively ministering to your minister.

This Month's Pastor Statistic

Nearly half of pastors today would consider leaving the ministry even if that meant taking a secular job.

What can you do?

  • Give your pastor a break - by that I mean at least three and preferably four weeks of vacation a year.

  • Lighten your pastor's load - He or she probably already works about 50 hours a week. Is there anything you or someone else can do to help him out?

  • If your pastor has done something worth criticizing, talk to him personally. Never criticize him behind his back.

  • Pray daily for your pastor and his/her spouse. He needs the Spirit's help more than you know.
