The Oratory of the Little Way is an ecumenical retreat house tucked away in the northwest hills of Litchfield County, Connecticut. Located in Gaylordsville, our retreat house is surrounded by nature in a peaceful country setting.
We are a seven bedroom facility, sleeping eleven with beautifully furnished rooms and a retreat facility that meets most needs. We offer individual retreats and group retreats. We also have prayer and healing services for
the public. Several times a year we run a pastor's retreat called "Healing the Shepherd".

Healing the Shepherds
A Pastor's Prayer Retreat
"Come away to a deserted place all by yourselves and rest a while." Mark 6.30 NRSV
We know how important it is for pastors to get away from the daily grind of ministry. Join us for a special time of relaxation, spiritual renewal, fellowship, and renewed committment.
"Healing the Shepherds" is a two day retreat offered to clergy or others involved in full time ministry (including doctors and nurses). It focuses upon how wounds sustained in the service of God’s people are able to be given over to the healing touch of our Savior. It is ordinarily presented at the Oratory twice yearly. Over the past several years it has proven itself to be a powerful instrument of healing in the lives of many.
About the retreat leader. Bishop Alex McCullough is the Spiritual Director of the Oratory of the Little Way. He served as senior pastor for 24 years at the Congregation of the Messiah in Tuckahoe, New York. Consecrated as a Bishop in 1990, he was Bishop of Westchester County from1990 to 2008. Bishop Alex retired from the institutional church in 2008. Prior to his church background, he served three years in the Marine Corps from 1952 to 1955, including 15 months in Korea. A professional musician for over 60 years, he played with big name bands and vocalists in the 50's, 60's and 70's. His prayer counseling at the Oratory follows a simple pattern: listen, love, and pray.
