Description of Westford Congregational Church and Pastoral Responsibilities (pastor job description):
Responsibilities of Pastor: To fulfill the requirements of a pastor as stated in our by-laws and, also, to include: counseling, visitation, facilitate interaction with other local churches, participate in activities of the church, work in close co-operation with Elders, Deacons (or Emergency Committee) and other appropriate committees, be aware of activities and needs of the church.
Theological Position of the Church: See Articles of Faith. Any other specifics would need to be addressed as they arise.
Strengths of the Church Ministry: Family oriented, caring, sharing, hospitality, creative gifts, diversity of experiences, flexibility, family-like community, free clothing ministry, nice facility, attractive location, strong basis on Scripture.
Weaknesses of Church Ministry: Size, communication, commitment, ministry to youth and outreach.
Description of Community: Small, rural town in Northeast corner of Connecticut on isolated town road in rural/residential area, 12 miles from large state university, 18 miles from smaller state university, considered “bedroom community”, 30 miles from Hartford, in a town that is growing in population but limited job opportunities, 4,300 people in 40 sq. miles, 1 elementary school, 2 Protestant churches and 1 Catholic church.
